About the Craftsman
Crafted by Hand. Inspired by Wood. Built to Last.
Welcome. My name is Jeremiah Jacob Larabee, and I am a woodworker, woodturner, craftsman, and lifelong student of the art of working with wood.
Most days, you’ll find me with sawdust on my clothes, a tool apron around my waist, and probably a little sawdust in my beard. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
A Lifelong Love of Wood
My relationship with woodworking began when I was young. I took every woodworking course I could through school and local 4-H programs before continuing my education at a technical school for carpentry.
What started as an interest quickly became something much deeper.
For nearly 30 years, I have worked with wood in one form or another—learning, experimenting, designing, building, and continually searching for better ways to transform a raw piece of timber into something meaningful.
Life, however, took me down a few unexpected roads.
I served in the United States Marine Corps and later in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot, followed by civilian helicopter work both throughout the United States and overseas.
While aviation became my profession for many years, woodworking never left me.
Wherever life took me, I continued to design, build, study, and dream about making sawdust. Woodworking was always waiting for me in the background, quietly calling me home.
Returning to the Craft
Eventually, life brought me full circle.
I returned to woodworking with a renewed commitment to developing my craft and understanding the traditions, techniques, and discipline that separate a handmade piece from something simply mass-produced.
I spent more than three years studying at the Red Rocks School of Fine Woodworking, where I earned multiple woodworking certificates and continued developing my skills as a craftsman.
I have also pursued specialized instruction from respected craftsmen, including Rob Cosman's Train the Hand Tool Workshop in 2025.
I believe a true craftsman never stops learning.
There is always another technique to master, another tool to understand, another design to explore, and another piece of wood that has something new to teach you.
From Timber to Heirloom
Today, my work centers primarily around woodturning and custom furniture, along with a growing collection of handcrafted wooden goods.
Among my creations are wooden whiskey tumblers, beer mugs, wine goblets, serving pieces, furniture, and other one-of-a-kind creations.
I especially enjoy creating pieces that combine everyday function with the beauty of fine woodworking.
A whiskey tumbler should not simply hold whiskey.
A wine goblet should not simply hold wine.
A beer mug should not simply hold beer.
These are objects that become part of an experience.
They are meant to be held, used, admired, and eventually remembered.
That is why I take great care in selecting the wood, studying its grain and character, shaping each piece, refining the details, and giving the finished work the attention it deserves.
No Two Pieces Are Ever Quite the Same
One of the things I love most about working with natural wood is that the material has a personality of its own.
Every tree grows differently. Every board has its own grain, color, figure, knots, and subtle imperfections.
I don't want to hide those characteristics.
I want to celebrate them.
That means when you purchase one of my handcrafted pieces, you're not simply purchasing something made from wood. You're getting a piece of a particular tree, shaped by hand and transformed into something that could never be perfectly duplicated.
Even when I create the same design more than once, each piece will have its own character.
That is the beauty of handmade.
Made to Be Used. Made to Be Enjoyed.
My goal is to create pieces that live somewhere between function and art.
Something beautiful enough to display, yet durable enough to use.
Something that feels special in your hands.
Something that can become part of a quiet evening with a glass of whiskey, a gathering with friends and a cold beer, a celebration with a favorite bottle of wine, or a piece of furniture that becomes part of your home for generations.
I want the things I make to become part of people's lives.
Thank You for Supporting Handmade Craftsmanship
In a world increasingly filled with mass-produced products, I believe there is still something special about knowing who made the things we bring into our homes.
When you purchase from my shop, you are supporting an independent craftsman and nearly three decades of dedication to the art of woodworking.
Every piece represents time.
Time spent selecting the right material.
Time spent designing.
Time spent at the lathe or workbench.
Time spent sanding, shaping, refining, and finishing.
And perhaps most importantly, time spent caring about the finished piece.
Thank you for visiting my shop, for supporting handmade craftsmanship, and for allowing me to share a small part of my journey with you.
I hope that whatever piece finds its way into your home brings you as much enjoyment as I had creating it.
Thank you for stopping by—and welcome to my workshop.
